One is finished, Four to go ....

Hey people,
I have missed you :D but I never forgot you, I hope I am not forgotten as well. I finished my first year of studying Architecture, the results aren't out yet but I am hoping that they will be very good. My life is still pretty much the same, I am still living in The UAE, still a stranger to the rest of the world.. but I am as said before, moving on. I am going to get my driving license soon and that will make another dream of mine come true. I think I have achieved all my childhood dreams, now I am going to put new ones, maybe a little more distant.
I went to visit Iraq a couple of months ago, I was shocked to see what my country has turned into, I didn't go to Baghdad cuz it was more difficult to reach but I visited Mosul and was so sad to see it like that. I even went to a place that was my favourite back then when I was a child, it is called The Oprawe Hotel and I almost cried, the memory of it is forever destroyed, it was such a beautiful place, green gardens, people going in and out.. while now it is just another big building with no life.

What can I do??

Yours,
Raghda

    Hi Raghda

Good to see you are OK. Nice kitten, I just got my tomcat back after he was wild for 3 years.

I hope it all improves for you. It's going to take quite a while for Iraq to settle down but it will eventually.

    Salam Raghda!
I'm glad you're back to blogging. Good luck with your results, and with the driving lessons.

Never get de-moralised about Iraq's situation. Iraq needs us to believe in it and be positive. It will take time for it to restore its original beauty and strength, but it can't do this without the optimism of its people.

Thanks guys but its difficult to be optimistic when everybody else is not, however, I'll do my best to be positive, maybe it will work after all..

    What can you do?
    REMEMBER.
YOU are the living history of Iraq. If you have the time, write down everything you remember. The good and the bad. The little things and the big things. And the changes. Witness and document.
This may not seem like much. It might even seem worthless. But I believe you, and others, will discover that it is invaluable.

Dear Raghda--You asked what you can do. You are doing it-- by communicating. Trying to save your country is a tremendous burden to take on--just be a voice. This is not a small thing and you can be very proud.

What can you do? What anyone can: be mindful, treat others well, hope for a better situation, remember the good things. And don't forget to have some fun too.

Congratulations for walking into the career of your choice. Your family must be so proud of you!
I am really happy for all you have been accomplishing. I wonder if you can imagine the dimension of your achievements.
I tell about you to my kids and to all my students and teachers colleagues. You are inspiring as a wise young woman, whose sweetness and care for others is never defeated. And also as a very engaging writer that we all love.
    Best wishes, Audrey

    Hi Raghda,

I don't know if you remember me but I am the woman from Portland, Oregon, USA who has written to you in the past. I remember when you had to leave your beloved Iraq to live in a foreign country. I hope life has been good for you after so many heartbreaking setbacks. I also remember you as a cat lover, as am I. I hate to tell you but now I have 14 cats. LOL. I love them all as my children, at least they dont talk back, haha.

Also want to let you know that my kitties may be having babies in the next couple of months. After that everyone gets neutered or spayed. I just love kittens so much and my kittens are all so cute that they are usually adopted within 24 hours at the local humane society.

I hope that all is going well for you and pray you are safe and doing well with ur studies.

Anyway, just wanted to let u know that I am thinking about you and hope that all is going well for u and ur family. May Allah bless and watch over you, you are always in my duas, dear girl.

    Salaams,
    Khadijah Mary Ellen Hannigan
